A packaging maker is coming to Boone County.

London-based DS Smith broke ground Friday in the Lebanon Business Park. Construction will begin in earnest in February, the business should open in 2019.

The $100 million, 548,000-square-foot facility could employ 160 full-time employees by the end of 2020. The jobs are expected to provide wages above the average for Boone County, according to Molly Whitehead, director of the Boone County Economic Development Corp.

DS Smith operates across 37 countries and employs around 28,000 people.

The facility in Lebanon is the first for the business in the United States.

Wow, What a company... it operates across 37 countries and has now came to America to help provide work here. Their first company in America. This is a blessing for many people and great for our economy. I personally love reading about growth of businesses. May they do great things for their community and state.
