Paper-based packaging company Smurfit Kappa has partnered with Mitsubishi HiTec Paper to develop recyclable board-based food packaging.
The new product development is part of Smurfit Kappa’s Better Planet Packaging initiative.
The new board-based packaging is a combination of Smurfit Kappa’s MB12 packaging technology and Mitsubishi HiTec Paper’s BARRICOTE barrier paper product.
Mitsubishi HiTec Paper new business development and corporate social responsibility (CSR) director Dr Dieter Becker said: “As experts in speciality paper coatings, we brought our know-how in barrier and protective coatings to this process.
