In 2024, you approved funding for a Michigan State University grant to Dr. Amin Joodaky as part of our University Awards program for a collaborative research and education program on sustainable corrugated packaging (see attached). MSU has now reached out asking to connect with industry representatives to learn more about packaging sustainability challenges, which will allow them to move forward with their efforts. The program establishes a collaborative and interdisciplinary team at the School of Packaging (SoP) at MSU to focus on enhancing the sustainability of corrugated packaging and educating SoP students on corrugated. It is divided into four stages: (A) Forming the research and educator team, (B) Investigation and Research, (C) Design for Sustainability and Reusability, and (D) Workshop Development and Applied Projects. The four stages ensure the successful execution of the project, fostering innovation, and encouraging students to pursue careers in the sustainable corrugated packaging industry or conduct research in corrugated. Dr. Joodaky is working through stages A and Band needs to consult with interested industry companies about sustainability challenges, specifically related to packaging mechanics, to better direct their studies and research. If you are willing to help with this effort, at your earliest convenience, please provide a contact at your company willing to provide input on the above area that I can pass along to Dr. Joodaky. At minimum, we need them to be available for a meeting with Dr. Joodaky. We need at least 2-3 companies to participate. Your participation is greatly appreciated and may offer solutions for some of your current challenges. It also helps build your relationship with MSU to strengthen your recruiting pipeline to talented, knowledgeable students. Participate Now
