SUN Automation shared the below with AICC, which we sadly share with AICC On behalf of the employees at Sun Automation, we are deeply saddened by the loss of our former colleague and friend, Theodore (Ted) Hartka, whose contributions to both our organization and the broader corrugated machinery industry were immeasurable. Ted began his early learning at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute with a focus on engineering prior to earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University.Shortly thereafter, he started on a lifelong career in the corrugated industry designing machinery for Langston Greenwood. As time passed, Ted went on to hold leadership positions at Staley Machinery, Prime Technology, and ultimately Sun Automation. In each of these roles, he brought not only technical expertise but also the vision and leadership that helped shape the converting and finishing segments of our industry. In all, Ted compiled over 50 years servingthe corrugated community. At Sun Automation, Ted served as President from the late 1996 until 2008, overseeing all day-to-day operations. During this time, he played a pivotal role in strengthening partnerships with corrugated OEMs and key box plant personnel across the globe. His steady leadership ensured ongoing profitability while also laying the foundation for long-term growth and success. Beyond his many professional achievements, Ted will be remembered for the personal qualities he shared so generously—his faith, his friendship, and his unwavering dedication to those he worked alongside. He was not only a leader but also a mentor and a true colleague to so many. We salute Ted for the indelible mark he left on our company and on the corrugated industry. His legacy of leadership, innovation, and integrity will continue to inspire us. Read the Obituary: Ted Hartka Obituary September 29, 2025 - McComas Family Funeral Homes
